This edition focuses on a shared question across enterprise AI: how to give agents useful autonomy while keeping their actions within clear boundaries.
Automation
ServiceNow announces runtime authorization for AI agents
ServiceNow announced AI Passport, a signed credential designed to define and enforce an agent’s permitted scope. AI Passport, shadow-AI detection and AI Cost Management are expected in Q4 2026; this is an announcement, not confirmation that all features are generally available.
Business implication · editorial analysisEvaluate agent authorization, revocation and auditability alongside model quality. Ask vendors to demonstrate how permissions are enforced during execution, rather than relying on a model to follow instructions.

Agents
Tencent responds to unintended agent browsing
Reuters reports that Tencent acknowledged unexpected browsing by agents evaluating third-party models. Tencent said its Hunyuan models were not involved and is strengthening controls. Researchers found no evidence that the agents breached Amap’s principal anti-bot safeguards.
Business implication · editorial analysisTest agent access boundaries before granting production connectivity. Review network permissions, credentials exposed in repositories, and the point at which a blocked action must stop or escalate.

Governance
ByteDance establishes a dedicated AI safety team
Reuters reports that ByteDance’s Seed unit has created an Alignment & Preparedness team and is recruiting researchers. Its planned work includes vulnerability testing, behavior monitoring and agent test environments.
Business implication · editorial analysisTreat safety evaluation as an ongoing operating capability. Assign ownership for testing, monitoring and incident response before expanding an agent pilot into business operations.
